Christmas Florals

Flowers make a wonderful gift at any time of the year, but at Christmastime, there are several blooms that look particularly stunning in the winter, making them the perfect gift for your loved ones. Let’s take a look at some of the most beautiful flowers you can add to a Christmas bouquet for your friends and family to enjoy at home.

Red Roses

While you might associate red roses with passion and romance, they’re actually a staple flower in festive bouquets. Their deep red colour complements an arrangement with golden foliage and seasonal green berries beautifully, making them a must-have in homes for the upcoming season.

Red roses are also a great option for table centrepieces and will last for over a week in water. If you’re hoping to gift someone some red roses to use in their Christmas decorations, we recommend ordering some to arrive a couple of days before Christmas so that they will last over the holiday period.

Poinsettia

No Christmas bouquet would be complete without the addition of some traditional poinsettia flowers. Red is the most popular colour of poinsettia plants over the Christmas period, but this stunning flower also comes with beautiful white and pink petals.

To keep poinsettias looking fresh and healthy over the holiday season, all you need to do is tell your loved one to keep their bouquet in bright sunlight for at least 6 hours of the day, while keeping it away from heat. If they keep the soil of their poinsettia adequately moist, it can last for a few months.

Amaryllis

Amaryllis is a stunning Christmas bloom that comes in both red and white flowers to match the decor of any home. Their large, trumpet-shaped flowers make a striking addition to Christmas decorations, and make a popular Christmas gift as they can bloom indoors during the wintertime.

Amaryllis is also a great flower to have in homes over Christmas as it is incredibly long-lasting and can bloom for approximately 7 weeks at a time. If you buy a bouquet of amaryllis flowers, it can be enjoyed until after New Year.

Cymbidium / Boat Orchids

If you’re looking for something a little unusual to add to a Christmas bouquet, it’s worth considering cymbidium orchids. These unique, snow-white flowers are native to the forests in the Himalayas, so they are only in season in the winter and look the most enchanting over Christmastime.

Cymbidium orchids are also incredibly long-lasting and their stems may last up to four weeks, so you won’t have to worry about them drying up before the season is over.
